The mission of the Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation is to provide financial support to enhance the facilities, collections and programs of the Athens-Limestone Public Library.
It's a great time to be a part of the Athens-Limestone County Public Library! This year has been a year of growth and development for our Library as we begin to emerge from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Children and Youth programs have contributed significantly to this growth, welcoming children and students of all ages to programs at the library. The programs for children include Kindergarten Readiness programs, Read to a Therapy Dog opportunities, Summer Reading, S.T.E.A.M. activities on Tinker Tuesdays, and Storytime for babies and preschoolers. Young adults have the opportunity to be involved in Thursdays for Young Adults, Teen Library Council, and a writing program.
ALCPL has extended its reach out into the growing community of Athens and Limestone County. Two book clubs meet monthly Downtown at Antiques on Jefferson and Athens Alehouse. ALCPL also hosts local authors to speak about their new books and what inspires them in their writing. The Library Garden provides a beautiful green space for the area and is home to native plants and in-season produce for patrons to harvest and enjoy.
Our history
The conversation was started by a small group of people in 1995 about the need for a new, larger and improved library for our community. Surveys were completed, studies done and experts were consulted. The Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation was established by the Library Board of Trustees in 2005 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to raise the necessary funds.
The ALPL Foundation Board is a small group of committed individuals who have dedicated many hours to raise the funds that have made our new library a reality. The Foundation Board is excited about the future, and looks forward to the opportunity to continue to provide funding to support library operations and the purchase of needed materials.
The Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, and all contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Your financial support is both needed and appreciated! Please join us in the effort to make the Athens-Limestone Public Library the best that it can be.
