Summer Reading - Adventure Begins at Your Library

A Library's Summer Reading Program encourages a passion for reading and is critical in preventing academic loss over the summer months. This FREE program engages children academically while keeping reading FUN! With daily activities, weekly special events, and goal setting, children of all ages will develop a love of reading, find a home away from home, and discover the possibilities (and adventures!) books can bring!

Last year, ALCPL welcomed over 1600 children and youth at 41 offered Summer Reading events. Over 400 hours of reading were logged by children in the Library's Beanstack App. We are excited to see those numbers soar as we adventure through books together!

A summer reading sponsorship gives your business access to a large and diverse audience, including over 9,000 cardholders and the families of the children who participate in the programs.

Thank you for your help and consideration!

Join us in downtown Athens for our 2nd Annual Storybook Stroll beginning April 30th. Read a picture book while strolling through our beautiful downtown. We will feature 3 books written by children’s author, Peter Reynolds. Books will be changed every two weeks, so everyone can enjoy several times. At the end of the “stroll” use the QR code to receive a free ice cream cone from Kreme Delight! Each child that participates can earn one cone per book, so come back every 2 weeks to earn them all.

The final book in this year’s Storybook Stroll is Say Something by Peter Reynolds. This is an empowering story about finding your voice and using it to make a positive difference in the world. Each of us, each and every day, have the chance to say something: with our actions, our words, and our voices.
